Problem Gambling Training Partnership, a unique collaboration bringing quality education and training to licensed mental health professionals in the State is announcing the registration for the 2017 Conferences.

NASW-NYS is proud to be part of this initiative. We provided this training in 2016 to our membership – and over 300 of the over 500 participants identified as Social Workers. The PGTP is preparing clinicians to respond to the growing need of services for problem gamblers, and social workers are on the front line to answer the call. Visit www.nypgtp.org for more information

The Veterans Mental Health Training Initiative is a collaborative endeavor of the Medical Society of the State of New York, New York State Psychiatric Association, and New York Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers to educate and train community mental health and primary care providers on veterans-specific mental health issues, including among others post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, suicide, suicide prevention and substance use disorders. The initiative is made possible by a grant from the New York Legislature and is administered by the NYS Office of Mental Health.

Topic areas of note for the 2017 year include military cultural competency, women and military culture, EMDR as treatment for PTSD, suicide prevention, post deployment impact on children and families and reintegration. Click here to register for the 2017 Conferences
