NASW-NYS is offering an eight-hour course was designed for social workers preparing to take the Masters Level ASWB exam or the Clinical Level ASWB exam.
Open to students from all states, our package was developed and presented by two of the best instructors and test prep aficionados out there. This course not only dissects the exam but will also frame the test within the foundation of social work values and give you tools for grounding yourself before, during, and after the training.
You will receive a the full recording of the training to re-watch on your own as many times as you need. Plus, the full PowerPoint presentation from the entire test prep presentation, the ASWB appointment to take exam form, the ASWB Examination Candidate Handbook, the ASWB Examination Candidate Rules Agreement, a summary of Racial and Ethnic Identity Frameworks or Models, instructions and application for disability accommodations, a database of licensing exam levels by geographic region, personal learning, style evaluation and tips, the required application form 1 for Licensure, a New York State Education Department requirement checklist with all required items hyperlinked, sample exams with exam keys, and more!

This eight-hour course was designed for social workers preparing to take the Masters Level ASWB exam or the Clinical Level ASWB exam.
This course focuses on the following key areas:
1. developing necessary skills for acing standardized test,
2. reviewing concepts from the four content areas of the master level exam (Human Diversity and the Social Environment; Assessment and Intervention Planning; Interventions with Clients/Client Systems; and Professional Relationships, Values and Ethics),
3. reviewing concepts for the clinical exam (Assessment and Diagnosis; Clinical Treatments and Modalities; Psychotropic Medications; and DSM5), and
4. developing and practicing mechanisms to overcome anxiety, and specifically test anxiety
Folusho Otuyelu, PhD, LCSW is an Associate Professor of Clinical Social Work, MSW Liaison for Child Welfare and Licensure Preparation Manager at Touro’s Graduate School of Social Work. Dr. Otuyelu is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 23 years of experience working as an Administrator and Clinical Supervisor in prominent not-for-profit agencies in New York City such as the Children’s Aid Society and Visiting Nurse Service of NY. She has spent a significant number of years working with children, adolescents and their families in the mental health and child welfare areas of practice. In addition, she is well versed in evidenced based practice models such as Functional Family Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional- Level II. Dr. Otuyelu currently has a private practice focused on addressing the needs of individuals, children, and families. Dr. Otuyelu provides training and support to human service organization on anti-oppressive and anti-racist practices and its application to organizational management, clinical supervision, and direct practice. She also provides trainings around various clinical modalities such as CBT, DBT and Trauma along with clinical supervision and consultation to several nonprofit and organizations across New York City. Dr. Folusho Otuyelu holds a PhD in Social Work from Fordham University, a Master of Science degree in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. She is the recipient of the NASW-NYC 2014 Image Award in Direct Practice. Â
Shakira A. Kennedy, PhD, LMSW has over 20 years of Clinical, Operation and Facility Management experience. She has worked in partnership with several community agencies to assist them in areas relating to start-up management: adoption/foster care homestudy; HASA housing/audits; Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) & New York City Continuum of Care (COC) processes. Dr. Kennedy worked for a number of large not-for-profit organizations in an administrative leadership capacity supervising program directors, assistant executive directors among other titles. Dr. Kennedy provides training and consultation services for not-for profit and for profit organizations, community groups and professional associations around Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Dr. Kennedy approaches DEI through centering authenticity while giving space for healing in order to accomplish the collective mission of growth anchored in equity and inclusion for sustainability. Dr. Kennedy continues her connection to the community by being an active member of Westchester Black Women’s Political Caucus and an active journal reviewer for SAGE Open publications; a guest editor for the Reflections Journal, and reviewer for a special edition of the Journal of Social Work Education of Meeting the Grand Challenge of Ending Homelessness and a Consulting editor for the journal Children & Schools. She is also an Association for Social Work Boards (ASWB) scholar and has served on the Licensing & Regulation Task Force for the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) to develop the Curricular Guide for Licensing and Regulation. Dr. Kennedy has a Bachelor in Sociology from Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus, Masters from Clark Atlanta University and a Doctorate from The University of Tennessee.
