This workshop introduces attendees to methods and best practices of using social media as a community advocacy tool. It touches on the NASW tech standards, commonly used platforms, and methods and tactics employed in online community advocacy work. 

 

Learning Objectives:

After the completion of this webinar, attendees will:

  • Be able to use social media as part of their advocacy practice
  • Be able to apply NASW Technology Standards as they relate to macro practice
  • Be able to name digital platforms that can be used in community advocacy practice

 

This workshop is approved for 1.5 continuing education credit hours.

Rachel L. West, LMSW, holds a BA in History from SUNY Stony Brook and Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University. She is an ACOSA board member, Instructor at SUNY Stony Brook - School of Social Welfare, and founding #MacroSW chat partner. Since 2013, Rachel has provided consultation to social good organizations regarding advocacy and community outreach, as well as career coaching to macro practice social workers.
