The National Association of Social Workers was created with the mission to advance social justice. We define social justice as “everyone deserves equal economic, political, and social rights and opportunities. Social workers aim to open doors of access and opportunity for everyone, particularly those in greatest need.” With these core values in mind the New York State chapter will consistently demonstrate that we strive to be anti-racist, anti- heterosexist, anti-sexist, against anti-Semitism, anti-classist, anti-ableist, anti-xenophobic and other forms of oppressive actions. The chapter staff, board, and member volunteers will demonstrate these commitments through words and actions, which will be evidenced by our policies, practices, programming, and legislative initiatives.
