Workshop Description
Can social workers in rural settings work with clients they know personally? Maintaining professional boundaries is a legal and ethical responsibility, but it’s especially complex in small communities. This session provides real-world insights into ethical dilemmas faced by rural social workers and a framework to navigate them effectively while minimizing legal liability and client harm.
Learning Objectives
After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the ethical and legal responsibility of social workers in rural settings to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with the students and families they serve.
- Define dual relationships within a rural community.
- Apply a framework to avoid dual relationships whenever possible.
