WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This is a four-hour program with two 15 minute breaks. No refreshments will be provided.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has been proven to be very effective with an array of mental health and substance use related disorders, but it can also assist clinicians become more self-aware and mindful. DBT has not only made me a better clinician, but a better colleague, supervisor, friend, and parent. Expand on your knowledge of DBT and learn how to implement some of these exercises into your personal and professional life.

 

Participants will: 

  • Gain a better understanding of the DBT model
  • Learn and practice skill from each of the four modules
  • Learn how to implement these skills into their own clinical practice and personal life
  • Be connected to additional resources for further DBT trainings/information  

 

 

 

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

 

alisonfranklin.pngAlison Franklin, LCSW has extensive training and clinical experience in the realm of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), working initially with people who were living with Borderline Personality Disorder. Over the years, she has found this treatment to be exceptionally useful with many different disorders, including that of anxiety and other stress related disorders. Alison has been presenting, as a licensed professional, in a classroom setting since 2012 and have since presented to multiple different Social Work and Nursing classes at a variety of colleges. In 2013, Alison along with a colleague presented at a New York State conference on the popular topic: Implementing Dialectical Behavior Therapy in a PROS program. Alison is currently an Adjunct Social Work professor for Keuka College’s accelerated adult Bachelors of Social Work program and continue presenting/guest lecturing to faculty/staff/students on a variety of mental health and substance use related topics at my current place of employment, Utica College.
