Workshop Description
This panel provides an extension of information from the most recent VMHTI conference. The presenter will provide tools to support veterans’ finite and logistical needs in navigating higher education resources. A large percentage of suicide-related feelings are attributed to hopelessness surrounding a lack of resources in the community. The presenter will discuss eligibility for higher education opportunities among veterans, and best ways to support and provide appropriate steps and suggestions. The presentation will include an interactive panel of veterans who have lived experience in this arena. Education and resources will be provided with regards to the GI Bill, military benefits, student veteran opportunities, and inclusivity of veteran needs in higher education settings.
