Workshop Description
This session will describe the escalation cycle, and expectations when a student is escalated. Additionally, the session will explore how trauma impacts behavior in the school setting as well as how de-escalation skills fit into the larger context of understanding and managing student behavior. Finally, this session will provide 10 highly effective prevention and response strategies to use with students. 

 

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1.    Identify each phase of the escalation cycle 
2.    Explain how trauma impacts student behavior in the school setting  
3.    Describe key components of human behavior as it relates to student behavior and escalation 
4.    Implement 10 highly effective prevention and response strategies

Mahri Wrightington, Ph.D.  Dr. Wrightington earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College, and earned a doctorate in School Psychology from the University of Connecticut. Over the past 25 years, she has worked in the field of education as a school psychologist, school administrator, and education consultant.
