Workshop Description
This workshop is aimed towards generalist mental health providers and teams. It provides an overview of borderline personality disorder (BPD) formulation and features along with exploring common challenges like vague plans, triangulation, transference/countertransference and more that generalist social workers face when working with the BPD population. Part of the workshop is dedicated to familiarizing staff with a systematic approach when working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This approach emphasizes a curious, responsive, and optimistic therapeutic stance that aims to foster secure attachment and allows for effective crisis planning, problem-solving, case management and advocacy support. Some tips and "must" skills are also explored.
Learning Objectives
After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the etiology, theory and key features of Borderline Personality Disorder
2. Discuss comorbidities, associated problems, and confounding issues associated with BPD
3. Identify common treatment interfering issues that can impact the therapeutic relationship and explore solutions.
4. Explain a structured case management approach and core treatment strategies.
5. Apply principles of case management approach and basic strategies to case examples

Angela L. Belleville, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in MA, is a Northeastern University Alumni, trauma specialist and the owner of Bella Health which offers an array of gold standard PTSD treatments as well as supervision, consultation and training services for providers and the community. Ms. Belleville has a rich and wide-ranging experience in behavioral health including inpatient women’s psychiatric trauma care, DBT-based day treatment, community-based wraparound services supervision and management, program development, community fundraising and clinical supervision. In Ms. Belleville’s prior role as the Director of Clinical Consultation at Eliot CHS, she provided consultation and training in therapeutic and case management best practices for generalist clinicians, social workers and community wrap around teams working with clients experiencing PTSD, trauma-related symptoms, Borderline Personality and high risk behaviors as well as direct therapeutic care. She also has over a decade of experience as a trainer for non profit community based programs, law enforcement, corporate wellness, healthcare and in academic arenas such as Boston College and University of Albany and more. In addition to her extensive experience as a trainer and consultant Ms Belleville is a provider-status Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) clinician, certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), train-the-trainer status in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for PTSD, and proficient in Prolonged Exposure (PE), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and other forms of trauma treatment.
