Workshop Description
Social workers must create a plan for their practice and clients in case of the social worker’s death or incapacity. Advanced planning protects clients and makes things easier for loved ones and colleagues who may be asked to help on short notice. This course is designed to teach New York social workers their responsibilities for handling clients, and client records, in case the social worker becomes unavailable due to death or incapacity. The presenter will provide information about “professional wills” and best practices for preparing a practice for personal emergencies.
Learning Objectives
After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Describe why social workers need to plan for emergencies
2. Identify the value of a professional will
3. Identify the essential components of a professional will
4. Describe who is an appropriate “professional executor”
5. Identify best practices for preparing a practice for the death or incapacity of key people
This workshop is approved for 2.0 continuing education credit hours.
