Workshop Description
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people experience disparities in health care access, utilization, and outcomes. This presentation discusses the personal, psychological, and social impact of these disparities and provides strategies for engaging in LGBTQ+-affirming care. The foundation of competent care with this population is understanding sexual and gender identities and culturally sensitive terminology, which will comprise the first portion of this presentation.
Learning Objectives
After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify LGBTQ+-affirming terminology
- Identify health disparities that affect LGBTQ+ people
- Describe ways to implement LGBTQ+-affirming evidence-based practice
This workshop is approved for 1.5 continuing education credit hours.
