Workshop Description
Trauma-informed Expressive Arts Therapy is a form of therapy that uses creative arts such as painting, music, dance, and drama to help individuals who have experienced trauma. It is based on the understanding that trauma can affect the way a person expresses themselves and that creative expression can be a powerful tool for healing. In Trauma Recovery, a person may not be able to access words, and the arts can often be a bridge to words. This course is for non-creative arts therapists who would like to learn more about the world of expressive arts and the potential of integrating this framework as a healing tool. This session will direct practitioners to organizations, resources, and expressive strategies within the scope of practice to utilize as a supplement to integrative mental health care.

*Please Note: Since this session involves expressive exercises, attendees are requested to be on-camera for maximum benefit.

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1. Provide an introductory description of Expressive Arts and Intermodal Processing
2. Identify guidelines of a Trauma-Informed Approach to integrating the arts
