Workshop Description

Lifetime prevalence rates of depression in the US are 8.4% (NIMH, 2020) and 15.6% for an anxiety disorder (CDC, 2019). Estimates show that 60% of those with one of these diagnoses will also have the other (NAMI, 2018). These numbers have only increased since COVID. Behavioral Activation Therapy (BAT), a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is well known for its efficacy in the treatment of depression and has been shown highly effective in the treatment of anxiety as well. This webinar will discuss the foundations of BAT and how to apply BAT in the treatment of depression and anxiety. In addition, this webinar will teach practical, hands-on BAT skills to better treat depression and anxiety.

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

1.    Describe CBT perspectives of depression and anxiety from a CBT perspective.
2.    Explain Behavioral Activation Therapy (BAT) and how to apply it.
3.    Describe ways to utilize BAT to treat depression.
4.    Explain ways to utilize BAT to treat anxiety

This workshop is approved for 2.0 continuing education credit hours.
