Workshop Description

This course delves into how financial issues are intertwined with mental health and cultural experiences, particularly within Latino communities. It challenges the notion that financial discipline is the sole solution, focusing instead on the psychology of parenting styles and unique lived experiences.

By examining how parenting styles and cultural backgrounds shape financial behaviors, this session provides social workers with the tools to address financial trauma effectively. The aim is to foster a deeper understanding of the complexities involved and offer practical strategies to support clients in building financial resilience.

Designed for professionals committed to cultural competence and financial wellness, this presentation highlights the importance of integrating a trauma-informed perspective into financial therapy. Attendees will learn to create supportive environments that address the specific financial challenges faced by clients and promote their overall well-being.

Learning Objectives:

After this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the definition of financial trauma.

  • Identify and assess the psychological factors contributing to financial trauma among clients.

  • Examine how adopting a cultural lens can redefine the perception of financial health and the client's seeking assistance.

  • Apply therapeutic techniques, A.N.T.I. Discipline Approach that is based in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to facilitate the development of financial awareness and well-being among clients.
