Workshop Description
We have all heard of using journaling as a tool in therapy. Your client agrees but then what? Join us for this 1.5 hour interactive and experiential workshop where we will examine Pennebaker’s research, and learn specific strategies and tools to assign therapeutic journaling to your clients. This course will help you connect the dots between theory and application.

Our two case studies include clients who have experienced traumatic brain injuries as well as developmental disability. We will focus on making journaling accessible to all of our clients. Participants will be guided through trauma-informed specific techniques with opportunities to try practical prompts. You will leave with concrete strategies you can apply immediately with your client

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define Dr. Pennebaker’s model of expressive writing.
  • Identify the clinical research and 3 benefits for journaling as a therapeutic tool and intervention.
  • Determine the appropriate types of journaling for your specific clients to implement in session.
  • List five journal therapy interventions

This workshop is approved for 1.5 continuing education credit hours.
