Workshop Description
This workshop will describe ways to effectively manage a disclosure of suicidal ideation or urges to self-harm, as well as methods to assess risk immediately and in subsequent sessions. Safety plans, as well as effective replacement and general coping skills will be reviewed. The presentation will also include how to modify these skills when working with minor clients and their families.
Learning Objectives
After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Assess a client’s risk status and determine if a higher level of care is necessary
- Describe deliberation data and discuss the impact of means restriction on a client’s overall safety
- Prepare a safety plan

Dr. Jaimee Arnoff is a licensed clinical psychologist, specializing in teens and young adults, including those in the Deaf Community. Dr. Arnoff has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults across hospital settings, residential treatment centers, and community mental health clinics with a training focus in mood and anxiety disorders. When not providing therapy services at her private practice in Beacon, NY, she also completes forensic evaluations through Family Court in Dutchess County. Dr. Arnoff consults with other providers who work to support individuals who experience suicidal ideation and self-injurious behaviors and has been featured as an expert on the topic on numerous podcasts. As the psychologist at James’s Warriors, a local not-for-profit organization, she has developed and presented on Teen Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in high schools and colleges, as well as in libraries and other community centers throughout NY.
