Workshop Description
This Panel will highlight what it means to be a veteran clinician, and the intersection between lived experience and professional experience. Training will first highlight what it means to be a peer as a veteran advocate and then go into how to apply those skills within a clinical relationship, including the navigation of boundaries, transference, counter-transference, empathy, and relatability. Panelists will discuss the skills they are able to use to enhance the therapeutic relationship when working with fellow veterans. We will also discuss challenges that may come up for veteran clinicians in this field.
