Workshop Description
This follow-up Solution-Focused Brief Therapy training is an extension  of the level 1 course. The level 1 course covered the foundations of the Solution Focused(SF) model and the 7 solution-focused interventions.  This training expands on these and provides more opportunities for practice, and discussion.  While the participants will help to design the the training together, the training will include a brief review of the fundamentals, a full session video with discussion, and a full session roleplay.  The second day is planned to give the particpants opportunities to practice.

It’s recommended that participants have either completed the basic course or its equivalent, have a good grasp of SF concepts, and are using the model in their own practice.

 

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

•    Name the 7 tools of solution-building
•    Name the 3 basic rules of solution building
•    List the 5 elements of the “thinking break.”
•    Name the characteristics of a useful goal.
•    List the basic solution focused assumptions.
•    Name the 4 elements of E.A.R.S.
•    Through role-plays, participants will be able to demonstrative a facility using the 7 tools of solution-building.

This workshop is approved for 12.0 continuing education credit hours.

Joel Simon, LCSW, ACSW, BCD. Joel has been in clinical social work practice for over 40 years in a variety of both inpatient and outpatient settings.  He has been a solution-focused practitioner, trainer, presenter, and consultant since 1992.  Joel attended 3 advanced solution-focused trainings at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the home of solution-focused brief therapy.  He is a founding member of the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Association and the recipient of the Steve de Shazer Memorial Award for “significant contributions to the field of solution-focused brief therapy over many years.”   Currently, Joel is in private practice, provides solution-focused training, supervision, and consultation.  Joel co-authored several articles on solution focus including two with Insoo Kim Berg, a co-developer of the model.
