Workshop Description
This presentation will discuss Military Sexual Trauma (MST), and provide an educational and interactive platform for learning about this concept, definitions related to it, as well as direct experiences from veteran participants. We will explore conditions under which MST has lasting effects on individuals, third party oversight, cultural/historic timeline of advocacy efforts, and lingering (clinical) after effects of MST. Workshop will cover how trauma, specifically sexual trauma, affects one’s identity, esteem, feelings of betrayal, and core feelings of safety, as well as interference in setting and actualizing life goals. Participants will outline personal and professional experiences in order to provide suggestions for screening, diagnosis, and appropriate conversations and referrals.
