Workshop Description
Trauma is linked with intersecting marginalized identities, and students’ exposure to traumatic experiences can have an impact on their social emotional learning and development.  It is important for trauma-informed social workers to engage in anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice in order to effectively address You cannot be trauma informed or have social emotional learning outcomes.  This program will provide ways that school social workers can effectively work towards equity,  by growing beyond mandated IEP counseling and integrating social workers into the classroom for a holistic approach to education, weaving in the social emotional content with equity work.

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate and define Social Emotional Curricula with and without an equity focus.
  • Explain the intent and the impact of SEL without an equity focus.
  • Describe the ways to improve upon SEL curriculums by adding real life topics.

This workshop is approved for 1.5 continuing education credit hours.
