Workshop Description
The workshop “Improving Communication and Collaboration in Team Settings” will focus on various ways to build a collaborative team structure, specifically in clinical settings. Workshop will provide an overview of team building techniques, such as: managing expectations, creating team goals, building cohesion, fostering creativity, leveraging strengths, improving problem solving abilities, improving productivity, and supporting an overall more positive and effective team setting. Activities will include independent assignments, as well as interactive-based discussions. Team-building exercises will be reviewed, with the goal of increasing collaborative skills and social work skills within the workplace. Theories by Irvin Yalom will be discussed and presented. Participants will learn how to set goals, resolve interpersonal conflict, and more effectively utilize resources. Communication methods will be outlined and demonstrated. Workshop will help to decrease burnout, teach usable skills, and improve workplace satisfaction overall. Listening skills will be outlined, as well as effective dialogue skills, do’s and don’ts of communication, and body language skills. Camaraderie will be defined and outlined, as it relates to effective and productive team settings. Measurements of productivity will be examined. Examples will be given of competitive, productive, supportive, cohesive, and successful workplace settings, prompting participants to look at their own professional styles and goals. 

 

Learning Objectives:

After the completion of this webinar, participants will:

  • learn 3 effective communication skills
  • learn 3 elements of a collaborative team setting, as well as ways to implement them
  • be able to identify details that demonstrate a productive team setting
  • will be able to describe 3 team building exercise that aid in building camaraderie

This workshop is approved for 2.0 continuing education credit hours.

Ayniimage-20190508130737-1.pngsa Leonardo is a Licensed Clinical Art Therapist (LCAT, ATR-BC), who has been in the field of mental health services for 12 years. She is the Director of Military Services at Long Island Center for Recovery. Her prior experience includes working in inpatient, outpatient, and non-profit settings with clients experiencing posttraumatic stress, addiction, family conflict, and other mental health challenges. She has concentrated on advanced program development and clinical education, locally and nationally. She continues to provide evidence-based and interactive style presentations to hospitals, non-profits, and corporate agencies, in an effort to raise awareness of current trends and improve competency within the healthcare community.
