Following this course, participants will be able to:
1. Develop self-reflection and boundary-setting skills to navigate belief differences in veteran care
2. Recognize and address biases that may impact the clinician-veteran therapeutic relationship
3. Apply strategies to manage countertransference, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue
4. Identify areas for improving military cultural competency in working with veteran populations.
5. Apply strategies to communicate effectively and respectfully with clients whose beliefs differ from the clinicians, and document interactions involving discomfort, bias, ethical concerns, and clinical decision-making regarding treatment planning or referrals.
