I.30 minutes contextualizing the diverse nature of military service and veteran identities.
II. 30 minutes identifying why and how veterans are viewed and treated as a monolith, and its detrimental impacts on veterans.
III. 30 minute panel discussion on how the dehumanized and stigmatized myth of the “standard veteran” circumvents social work values and ethics, contributes to reductive quantitative and medicalized interventions that prioritize (over) medication and narrow cookie-cutter interventions for a complex group of people who require robust holistic, empowering, participatory, strengths-based solutions.
