NASW-NYS Condemns Rise in Anti-Semitism

The National Association of Social Workers – New York State (NASW-NYS) strongly condemns the recent multiple hate-fueled attacks on the Jewish community and the increase in antisemitic actions and rhetoric across the globe. We are heartbroken, disturbed, and outraged by these horrific acts of violence, we stand with our Jewish sisters and brothers in this time of grief and offer our most heartfelt condolences to the families and communities affected by these attacks.

Antisemitism is a cancer out of control in our nation, and each anti-Jewish attack is an attack on all of us. Anti-Semitism, racism, xenophobia and other kinds of intolerance and discrimination threaten not only the individuals and communities that suffer from their effects, but also contribute to creating the toxic climate needed for extremism, terrorism and violence to thrive. NASW-NYS is committed to the absolute priority of countering intolerance and discrimination through promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and active resistance.

We ask that all social workers stand with us against antisemitism.

We believe that any programming about a community, but be led by that community. If you are a Jewish social worker and would like to host a conversation about anti-semitism and social work, please contact us at info.naswnys@socialworkers.org.
