Workshop Description

As the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic have set in, social workers have had to make major changes in the way that they practice. Clients and communities are struggling with how to stay healthy, how to care for the most vulnerable, and how to cope with the stress and anxiety that have emerged from the pandemic. Many social workers have switched from in-person practice to practicing online with clients. This webinar will assist social workers to expand their practice through telemental health, enabling them to continue to provide quality services, while maintaining the communication and rapport of face-to-face sessions. Participants will recognize and respond to ethical issues arising from these new realities: providing services for clients who lack easy access to technology, competence required for providing services online, maintaining appropriate boundaries with clients, triaging when service capacity is overwhelmed, changes in HIPAA regulations, and implications for confidentiality and risk management.]

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify different types of telehealth options available to utilize with various types of clients.
  • Effectively navigate challenges of telehealth care.
  • Identify which clients may not be appropriate for telehealth care.
  • Build rapport with clients and create boundaries when utilizing telehealth care

This workshop is approved for 1.5 continuing education credit hours.
