Workshop Description
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on teaching coping skills to target psychological problems.  The CBT approach is an evidence-based therapeutic approach and can be applied across many diagnostic categories and treatment populations. This practical course will provide an overview of the principles and practice of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an empirically validated treatment model and framework for treating a variety of mental health concerns. In addition to describing the theoretical context for this model, this course will offer a practical skills approach for  direct utilization in clinical settings. . A diversity of current approaches within the CBT paradigm will be reviewed, including: CBT, REBT, ACT, Schema, and Trail Based Cognitive models. This course will describe the  cross-cutting techniques across all sub-groups, and also understand the differences between these approaches. The course will include in-class exercises, role-plays, and case application review.
