Workshop Description
Field supervisors require support, education, and training but need access to such materials in ‘bite size’ segments. Marist College Social Work Field Education Program has developed a ‘Virtual Lunch and Learn Series where you can join in and learn about the various fundamental aspects of field education and supervision. These 60-minute sessions are engaging, and informative, and seek to transform your thinking about the various aspects of field supervision. The first topic in this six-part series is titled: How to provide great supervision for and with your social work intern.
Building on knowledge about how to provide high-quality social work supervision, this session will focus on Kadushin’s model of supervision. This model includes three distinct elements: 1) administrative 2) supportive and 3) supervision. The presentation will use this framework to create a framework for providing high-quality supervision to our interns that moves us beyond the administrative aspects of the work to a holistic view of adult learning. The presenters will use case studies, role plays, and interactive discussions to build one’s confidence to provide energized, and transformative supervision. We hope you will join this lively one-hour discussion where you will feel part of a community of field supervisors seeking support and offering wisdom to one another.
