Workshop Description

This workshop aims to educate practitioners around the unique skills required to work with high risk adolescents (substance abuse, truancy, NSSI, violence, gang affiliation, etc.). It aims to provide an overview of the developmental issues specific to the adolescent stage, provide skills and knowledge that can be instrumental in engaging and working with adolescents and to inform practitioners about the current evidence-based practices that are available to treat high risk behaviors among adolescents.

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Apply new knowledge about the unique developmental, cognitive and social needs of adolescents in their work with adolescent clients.
  • Identify current evidence-based practices that are available to treat high risk behaviors among adolescents and apply this knowledge to their clinical work.
  • Determine appropriate assessment and engagement skills for work with resistant high-risk adolescent populations.
  • Identify adolescent client needs cross modality (individual, groups, and families).

This workshop is approved for 2.0 continuing education credit hours.
