Workshop Description
As Social Workers perform their duties, it is important they understand the structure of an organizational/association board, its charge, how they maintain their relevancy and how they hold themselves responsible and accountable. Social Worker engagement within a board is discussed, especially the critical role of being an advocate and change agent. This course examines Boards, the roles of Directors and Trustees, Board Committee structures and the Board and Committee charge. Too often, the success or failure of an organization can be traced to the planning, implementation and effectiveness of the Board of Directors. The central role Board and Staff have in strategic planning and organizational oversight will be discussed. Practice Informed logic models will be shared and critiqued for attendees to utilize in their professional career.
