This highly interactive session engages practitioners in applying a strengths based and compassionate "family coach approach." Combining Family Centered Social Work practice with the evidence based practices of Recovery Coaching, Motivational Interviewing and The Stages of Change Model as well as honoring the human potential inherent in the Multiple Pathways of Recovery Philosophy, this workshop demonstrates how to assist and support family members in becoming more effective and influential partners in their loved one’s ongoing battle with addiction and early recovery while respectfully and empathically empowering them to create and maintain healthy boundaries that allow for greater focus on their health and wellness.  

 

Learning Objectives:

After the completion of this webinar, participants will:

  • assist family members in viewing themselves as powerful resources in their loved ones recovery.
  • discuss how to effectively utilize The Stages of Change Model with Family Members.
  • will explore the use of person first, strength based and recovery celebratory language.
  • become familiar with The Parallel Process and The 11 Family Recovery Principles.
  • practice assisting family members in identifying and assessing Effective vs. ineffective helping.

This workshop is approved for 2.0 continuing education credit hours.
