ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Working in a school setting can be overwhelming. Dealing with the changes of our complex world can be even more overwhelming for students. Our workshops aim to cover the issues of death and dying, immigration and reintroducing back to the school environment post residential placement. This conference will have participants walking away with information and tools necessary to help K-12 students better cope with these aforementioned topics.
Learning Objectives:
Participants Will:
- Identify best practices for crisis interventions in a school environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of interventions that can be used to advocate for immigrant students
- Identify the trends in School Social Work including evidenced practices
- Develop an understanding varied roles of a School Social Worker
- Identify strategies to survive your first year as a School Social Worker
