Workshop Description

In this training, participants will learn a fail-safe formula for writing IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) goals and objectives in the area of social-emotional and behavioral functioning that will allow goals to be measured and monitored effectively. We will review examples that can be measured in the counseling setting and in the classroom setting. Participants will learn a variety of effective methods for measuring progress on goals and objectives. Particular attention will be paid to rubric-writing for measuring complex skills. The training materials will include multiple examples of IEP goals, objectives, accompanying measurement documents, and rubrics. Participants will leave the session armed with new knowledge to improve their IEP writing skills immediately. 

 

Learning Objectives

After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify formulas for writing goals and objectives for IEPs.
  • Formulate effective present levels statements.
  • Make effective measurement choices and avoid measurement pitfalls.
  • Write rubrics to measure complex skills.

This workshop is approved for 2.0 continuing education credit hours.

Mahri Wrightington, Ph.D , earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College, and earned a doctorate in School Psychology from the University of Connecticut. Over the past 18 years, she has worked in the field of education as a school psychologist, school administrator, and education consultant.
