To Our Colleagues,

The NASW-NYS Westchester Division is committed to responding to the needs of its members by developing a comprehensive calendar of Continuing Education Workshops throughout the year to address the educational needs of Social Workers. The Westchester Division recognizes continuing education as critical to ensure all Social Workers maintain the highest levels of professional and ethical standards to meet the needs of our clients.

Since we believe our membership is our most valuable resource, we are releasing this Request for Proposals (RFP) to invite Social Workers to develop and present a workshop for our continuing education program. Based on a survey of Westchester NASW members, we are seeking proposals in the following subject areas:

All proposals must meet the NYSED provider requirements. In addition to the subject areas listed above, applicants must take into consideration basic social work practice considerations in developing their proposals. Please see listing below:

  1. Theories and concepts of human behavior in the social environment;
  2. Social work practice, knowledge and skills;
  3. Social work research, programs, or practice evaluations;
  4. Client communications and record keeping; 
  5. Pedagogical methodologies or other topics which contribute to the professional practice of licensed master social work and licensed clinical social work;
  6. or cross-disciplinary offerings from medicine, law, administration, education and the behavioral sciences are acceptable if they are clearly related to the enhancement of social work practice, skills and knowledge, and the health, safety, and/or welfare of the public.

The Westchester Division is placing a high priority on workshops that are live trainings which can take place in-person or via webinar, providing applicant uses NASW approved webinar software (currently go-to-meeting).

We are looking for workshops that are at least 1.5 hours or 1.5 CEU’s to a maximum of 15 hours or (15 CEU’s). The Westchester Division will secure space for all in-person workshops and will assist in the set-up and use of webinar software.

We are asking all Social Workers interested in applying to meet the following criteria:

  • Have at least 3 years post-masters work experience
  • Have relevant experience in subject area
  • Be a Social Worker in good standing with no history of ethical violations by the NASW or New York State Office of the Professions

Additionally, all interested applicants must meet the following NYSED instructor requirements: Instructors who are qualified to teach the courses/educational activities which will be offered, including but not limited to, faculty of a licensed master social work or licensed clinical social work program offered by a higher education institution; or instructors who are specially qualified authorities in their field of practice or area of expertise.

Along with the Westchester Program Intake Form (Click link to download), an applicant must also submit the following:

  • A biography: 250 word maximum
  • An up-to-date resume or CV
  • A picture to use in advertising materials

Selection Criteria:

A panel of Westchester Division Continuing Education committee members will review all proposals. Selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • A fully completed proposal in the specified subject areas
  • Social worker has demonstrated experience in subject area and correct level of licensure for topic
  • Topic meets the needs of a diverse audience of social workers in the County
  • Proposed time and day of workshop
